Distribución GNU/Linux
Una distribución de GNU/Linux (llamadas también distribuciones Linux) es una variante de ese sistema operativo que incorpora determinados paquetes de software para satisfacer las necesidades de un grupo especifico de usuarios, dando así origen a ediciones hogareñas, empresariales y para servidores. Pueden ser exclusivamente de software libre o también incorporar aplicaciones o controladores software privativo|privativos.
La base de cada distribución incluye el núcleo (informática)|núcleo Linux (núcleo)|Linux, con las biblioteca (programa)|bibliotecas y herramientas del proyecto GNU y de muchos otros proyectos/grupos de software, como BSD, Xorg, Apache, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Perl, Python, PHP, Gnome y KDE.
